The Fear of the Lord is...

The fear of the Lord is not a phrase that you hear very often today.  Many people cannot see any connection between the words ‘fear’ and ‘love’.  Maybe you also have the idea that the ‘fear of the Lord’ is something that belongs to Old Testament times; it is not something we should promote today.

Let us see what the Word of God has to say about this subject.

Would you agree that the fear of the Lord is a deep sense of awe and a powerful respect for God, which leads a person to listen to God rather than any voice contrary to God’s Word.

This is what kept the Lord Jesus faithful to His task when everyone around him, at the time of his suffering, was shirking their responsibilities.
