Bible Reading Plan June 2008
Rev Bill Wiersma
The Fear of the Lord is... The fear of the Lord is not a phrase that you hear very often today. Many people cannot see any connection between the words ‘fear’ and ‘love’. Maybe you also have the idea that the ‘fear of the Lord’ is something that belongs to Old Testament times; it is not something we should promote today. Let us see what the Word of God has to say about this subject. What do the following passages teach us about God and the fear of the Lord. Sunday 1st Psalm 111 Monday 2nd Isaiah 11:1-5 Tuesday 3rd Isaiah 6:1-8 Wednesday 4th Revelation 1:9-18 Thursday 5th Daniel 9:4-19 Friday 6th Psalm 19 Saturday 7th Matthew 26:36-46 Sunday 8th Proverbs 29:25 Monday 9th Acts 4:23-31 Tuesday 10th Psalm 46 Wednesday 11th Psalm 34 Thursday 12th Psalm 2 Friday 13th Revelation 4 Saturday 14th Revelation 5 Would you agree that the fear of the Lord is a deep sense of awe and a powerful respect for God, which leads a person to listen to God rather than any voice contrary to God’s Word. This is what kept the Lord Jesus faithful to His task when everyone around him, at the time of his suffering, was shirking their responsibilities. Sunday 15th Hebrews 11:1-10 Monday 16th Hebrews 12:1-13 Tuesday 17th Acts 17:22-28 Wednesday 18th Jonah 1 Thursday 19th Acts 5:1-11 Friday 20th Acts 12-19 Saturday 21st Acts 7:44-60 Sunday 22nd Ephesians 6:10-20 Monday 23rd John 19:38-42 Tuesday 24th John 16:5-16 Wednesday 25th Acts 2:1-12 What were the believers excited about? Thursday 26th Matthew 13:1-17 Friday 27th John 14:1-14 Saturday 28th Ephesians 1:1-12 Sunday 29th Romans 8:28-39 Monday 30th Romans 11:33-36
